Why do I do what I do? Well, when you work alone, you’re forced to wear many different hats. This can be a good thing, giving you complete control and ensuring every day is different. But sometimes it means doing hard things with zero support. Working for yourself is great, but the distance between your dreams and the action needed to achieve them can be difficult to navigate without someone else cheering you on.

Being your own boss can also be tiring, overwhelming, isolating, and relentless. A few ups and downs are inevitable, but if you don’t take care of yourself, you can end up burning out, replacing your usual passion and excitement with poor health, exhaustion, and fatigue. I’m committed to helping my clients find ways to thrive and enjoy the perks of running their own business or having a successful career without having to sacrifice their wellbeing.

Working with someone like me is a big step, so how do you know you’re ready to invest in business coaching? Is it even right for you and your business?

Is Business Coaching Right for You?

As transformative as working with a business coach can be, you have to be ready, willing and able to engage with their support and advice. If you’re distracted, busy, reluctant to work hard, or looking for a quick fix, you’re unlikely to feel the benefits. I’d encourage you to study the statements below and be honest in your responses.

Coaching could be a good fit for you and your business if:

  • You value external accountability. Your business coach could check-in regularly, keep tabs on your progress, and make sure you’re working towards your goals.
  • You’re open to change and new ideas. Your business coach could encourage you to explore new ways of thinking, implement new strategies and generally shake things up in your business.
  • You need a ‘thinking partner’. Your business coach could be someone to brainstorm ideas with, offering feedback and helping you examine things from a different perspective.
  • You’re excited to stop strategising and start doing. Your business coach can only do so much. It’s up to you to act on their advice, implement strategy, and do the work.

What Can a Business Coach Help You Achieve?

I can’t speak for every business coach out there, but here are some of the things I regularly support my clients to achieve:

  • Improved productivity and effective time management. Think time blocking, managing distractions and coping with overwhelm.
  • Personal profile building and networking confidence.
  • Increased visibility for you and your business.
  • Confidence and courage building.
  • Self-care, wellbeing, and improved work/life balance.
  • Short and long-term business strategy and planning for succes.
  • Identifying ideal clients and finding new ways to reach them.
  • Money mindset and pricing for profitability.

3 Questions to Ask Yourself BEFORE You Invest in Business Coaching

So, business coaching feels like a good fit, and the list I’ve shared above resonates deeply. But are you truly ready to invest? Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  • Is there a specific challenge you want to overcome? Although a business coach may be able to help you identify or name the challenge(s) you’re currently facing, defining what you want to achieve through coaching will help you get the most out of the process – and your investment.
  • Are you willing to be challenged? If you’re set in your ways and not prepared to receive constructive feedback, working with a business coach could be a waste of time – yours and theirs.
  • Are you ready to commit? With business coaching, you’ll only ever get back what you’re prepared to put in. You’ll need to work hard and dedicate time and effort if you want to see results.
