The Distraction of Comparison

One of the most valuable things I've learned whilst running my own business and being my own boss is that, as the saying goes, "comparison [really] is the thief of joy".

Although it's positive to look around for inspiration and ideas, it’s so important to keep focused on your goals and the aspirations you have for YOUR business and not to get distracted or disheartened by what others are doing or appear to be doing.

Constantly looking at what others in your industry are doing will zap your joy! How many times have you found yourself aimlessly scrolling through your perceived competitors' Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, yada, yada, getting down in the dumps because they're at an event you wished you were at, they look busier than you are or they've been booked by that fabulous client you really wished you had?

Well, my advice to you...JUST STOP!

They are not you!

What you have to offer to your clients is unique. Focus on your own goals. If you don't know what your goals are yet or you need more clarity on them, take a few moments out of your day TODAY and write them down! What's your vision for your life and your business? What do you want to achieve before the end of this year and into next year? What goals do you need to set yourself to get there?

Write it down, make a plan, dream your dream and GO GET IT!

And last but by no means least...if continuously looking at what others are doing on social media is driving you nuts......unfollow them! It's that simple.
