Everyone Has the Same 24 Hours - How are you using yours?
Is your time like sand pouring through your fingers? Have you ever sat and wondered how others around you seem to get so much more done in their day? You're not alone! This is something that many of my clients need help with.
A Few Quick Tips
Develop a Good Morning and Evening Routine
I think that the most important place to start to make sure your day is as productive as possible is with getting a GOOD night's sleep! It may seem obvious but it's definitely a great place to start. It's not just about getting more sleep, it's the quality of your sleep that's important. Take a look at this article 8 Easy Ways to Start Sleeping Better which has some great tips to help you improve your night's sleep.
Next up is getting your day off to a great start with a good morning routine. This doesn't mean reaching for your phone or tablet to check your emails or your social media! Instead, create a routine that includes drinking water to rehydrate you and taking some form of exercise (even if it's just a few stretches or a short walk).
Journalling
Your morning routine is also a great opportunity for journalling which can really help you to focus (or refocus) on your goals for the day and week. I have found journalling a great way to focus and process my thoughts and also a good place to dream those dreams and scope out the plans towards realising my dreams. Perhaps more on journalling another time.
Planning
Last and by no means least Plan, Do, Review, Plan. As the old saying goes, "Failing to plan is planning to fail."
Weekly Review & Plan - To reach your goals you need a plan and consistent action to ensure you achieve them. Reviewing your progress at the end of each week and then planning what you're going to do the following week, is a great stress buster and will help you to be more focused.
Daily Review & Plan - Before you finish your working day, review your To Do list and plan what you need to do the following day. This will increase your productivity and help you to get rid of that "so what am I doing today" distracting conversation you have with yourself at the start of each day.
